Leading scientist's research interests: Professor Shoenfeld’s clinical and scientific works focus on autoimmune and rheumatic diseases. He has published more than 2000 papers in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Lancet, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Journal of the Clinical Investigations, Journal of Immunology, Blood, FASEB, Journal of the Experimental Medicine, Circulation, Cancer and others. His articles have had over 65,000 citations. He has written more than 350 book chapters, and has written and edited 35 books, some of which became cornerstones in science and clinical practice, such as "The Mosaic of Autoimmunity", "Infections and Autoimmunity" and such textbooks as "Autoantibodies" and "Diagnostic criteria of autoimmune diseases", all of which were published by Elsevier and sold in thousands of copies. Professor Shoenfeld is on the editorial boards of 43 journals in the field of rheumatology and autoimmunity and is the founder and the editor of the IMAJ (Israel Medical Association Journal) the well-known English-language journal of science and medicine in Israel, and also is the founder and Editor of the Autoimmunity Reviews Journal (Elsevier) (Impact factor 8.9) and co-Editor of the Journal of Autoimmunity (Impact factor 8). For the past twenty years prof. Shoenfeld has been the Editor of “Harefuah” – The Israel journal in medicine (in Hebrew).

2016 – Excellency Prize of «OMETZ» society, for contribution to the Israeli Medicine

2014 – Doctor Honoris Causa: Distinguished Member of the Slovak Society of Internal Medicine.

2013 – Master Award of the American College of Rheumatism in San Diego.

2009 – Award of of the Israel Medical Association for lifetime contribution to internal medicine in Israel.

2008 – The Nelson Professorship award for distinguished biomedical scholars, at the University of California (USA).

2008 – Doctor Honoris Causa, The Hungarian Society of Rheumatology.

2006 – Gold Medal from the Slovak Society of Physicians for scientific cooperation between Slovakia and Israel.
