Michel Legrand has many years of experience in the study of the chemical composition of ice cores and has made a number of discoveries in this field of studies. The scientist conducted the first research of methanesulfonate in Antarctic ice to reconstruct the past emissions dimethyl sulfide by the marine biota in the Southern Ocean. He was also the first to apply carboxylic acid to track the burning of the biomass in the past according to ice cores of Greenland.
